Hello, I'm Laurie. Have you struggled with making sense of your story and wonder how to move forward with your life as it is today? As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland with 20 years of experience, I have had the privilege of listening to people's stories with compassion, kindness, and support. I enjoy helping my clients gain understanding into how their past impacts the present and then use that insight to move toward a better future by choosing healthier thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I have helped many people struggling with issues like depression, anxiety, anger management, mood disorders, and trauma. With a master's degree from Loyola College in pastoral counseling, my approach is informed by a deep understanding of both spiritual and secular perspectives. My professional work spans various settings, including outpatient care, employee assistance programs, and the criminal justice system, where I have worked in victim advocacy and corrections. My counseling style is compassionate and non-judgmental, but I will also challenge and encourage you as you work toward change. I believe in empowering my clients by giving them the tools and skills they seek to live a healthier and more satisfying life. While gaining insight is important, what you do with that insight is even more critical. My primary approach is cognitive-behavioral, and I have extensive experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, particularly in helping clients manage their mood and behavior. I regularly work with people who have suffered tremendous trauma in their lives and find great fulfillment in helping them find a path to recovery. I entered the counseling field because I love listening to people's stories and helping them make sense of them. I stayed in the field because I have a passion for providing a safe and nurturing space where people can take those stories and experiences and create a life worth living.
