Laurie Sansom, LPCC

Psychotherapist
MN
I am glad you have chosen to engage in therapy. I work with adult individuals, specializing in anxiety, grief, and relationship issues. I believe progress happens when you feel safe and accepted by your therapist, so my goal is for you to feel that way in every session. My approach I mainly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based method effective for most concerns. This therapy helps understand how your thinking influences your emotions and behaviors. I incorporate other approaches when appropriate. My goal is to help you feel safe, heard, and accepted, and to help you reach your goals so you leave therapy with new coping mechanisms and a sense of growth. My focus If you are dealing with anxiety, grief, or relationship issues, I am here to help you navigate those feelings and situations. I have many tools to share and look forward to helping you find hope and excitement for a better life through therapy. My communication style I will be truthful with you, helping you tell yourself the truth about what we work on. This will happen in an atmosphere of grace, so you feel safe exploring ways to act on those truths. I also use humor when appropriate. My journey to mental healthcare I have always valued working with people and being in a helping profession. As a lay counselor in a clinic, I realized counseling was the perfect career for me. This led me to graduate school, where I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Bethel University and began my professional counseling career.
