Getting to know Laurie Silvan

Hi there, I'm Laurie. Would you like to dive deeper into your own inner healing? I would love to work with you to create the space and support you need to heal and live abundantly and peacefully. During our sessions, you will be supported as you give attention to the places within you that you desire to heal. I will teach you strategies to regulate your emotions so that you can respond to life feeling centered, confident, and aware. If you experience feelings of anxiety, stress, sadness, or grief, therapy can be a supportive place to experience these emotions and integrate them into your life without becoming overwhelmed by them. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. I have worked as a school social worker for 20 years with adolescents, young children, and families. I am also a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator through Copper Beech Institute. I am passionate about integrating mindfulness practices with other healing modalities.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use a person-centered and holistic approach to therapy. This means that YOU will guide the direction of our sessions. You know the areas in your life that need healing and attention. Together, we will visit these areas and tend to them with compassion. I believe you have everything you need to heal and grow. I will journey with you and help you discover the power that already exists within you. I will listen empathetically and help you discover strategies and skills to help you respond to stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and/or grief and loss.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Laurie is an understanding and authentic therapist. Great listener which makes every session very pleasant.
Laurie is fantastic and I look forward to our sessions. She gives me items to work on and is always supportive.
Laurie is a genuine soul, a listener and so very caring!
Great therapeutic experience, Laurie creates an inviting & comfortable environment which allows me to openly express my emotions freely. The coping strategies she provides during therapy are effective & helpful.
I have only had a few sessions with Laurie but I am very excited to continue working with her. She allows me to talk as much or as little as I need and always provides authentic suggestions, improvements, and lovely compliments to help remind me i am doing okay!
I really enjoy Laurie so far. She asks the right questions to get your brain to open itself up instead of prying. Our like minded ways of thinking in the sense of spirituality really mesh well while still staying on the right track for everyday growth.
Laurie is phenomenal at what she does. She really listens to me when I talk and is never judgmental or critical of what I have to say. She is compassionate, empathetic and kind. My first experience with therapy wasn’t the greatest and I was skeptical until I met Laurie. Together, we’ve done some really great work and I am much more confident.
