Meliora Counseling & Wellness is the name of my practice. Meliora is a Latin word for "Things continuing to change", and my tagline is... The pursuit of better, because I believe that everyone has the ability to be the best version of themselves. I believe that we can strive every day to be better than yesterday. My clients are in charge of their own healing, and so I take a client-centered approach to therapy, and I believe in utilizing one’s strengths and building upon them in order to help my clients reach their goals. My approach I utilize CBT, CPT, ACT, and DBT, and I have training in trauma therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, play therapy, and art therapy. My focus I am a client-centered and strengths-based therapist. I am a very goal-oriented person and therapist. I set goals for myself daily and always look at the future. I help my clients to do the same. I strive to build a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, which is important for building trust. I also strive for a healthy body and a healthy mind approach. My communication style I am a strong listener, and I love to make sure that clients have the space. I try to use humor to lighten things when needed, and I am also comfortable in silence when need be. I am a pretty straightforward and blunt by nature person, and I can be that for my clients, but at the same time, show care, compassion, and empathy when needed as well. My journey to mental healthcare My journey started in an inpatient level one crisis facility, then working with children and parents in a school-based program. I then went into private practice and now have my own practice. My goals for you I believe that therapy is a team effort, whether it be between client and therapist, or client, therapist, family, and friends. I help the client to utilize social supports to help them reach their goals. I help the client make their goals in the beginning of treatment and then frequently visit them throughout to check for progress.
