Getting to know Leah Elbaum

You are the hero of your own tale; you are a warrior who can rescue yourself. Every warrior needs a tribe—people who will support and rally around you in the darkest of times. Will you allow me to be part of your tribe? Therapy is about you, your freedom, and the healing that occurs through self-exploration, understanding, finding meaning, and deepening your insight. My role is to help you begin to think, feel, and understand yourself more deeply, empowering lasting change. I use a person-centered, eclectic approach that fosters self-acceptance and empowerment. We will go at your pace—this is your journey. With a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, I am equipped to support you in decreasing anxiety, improving mood, and feeling better about yourself. You can learn to feel, think, and communicate more effectively. Emotional relief is possible. Changing your life is possible. You will be supported in feeling more empowered and balanced—mind, body, and spirit.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My greatest strength as a provider would be that I am sympathetic, understanding, and open-minded. I am person centered and eclectic so I treat every person as the unique individual they are. I have worked in residential treatment centers and psych hospitals so I am well versed in dealing with trauma and strong emotions. I will be your strongest cheerleader.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session together, we'll start with introductions and rapport building; I want to know presenting concerns and challenges you face in your life. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
