They are having difficulties with friends, relationships, academics, or careers and feel they do not have a purpose. This client wants to build their confidence and improve communication with others. Their goal is to become a happier version of themselves by understanding how to cope with life stressors in a healthy manner. They want to achieve this goal to reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. I would help this client by identifying what is triggering their anxiety. I utilize CBT therapy to help target and alter their thoughts. We would practice anxiety coping skills to resist being controlled by anxiety. I also encourage the client to develop confident, realistic beliefs about themselves to help build self-esteem. I enjoy helping clients gain a better understanding of what they are going through and realize they are not alone, which helps create a strong therapeutic process. Leah Jayne is a licensed social worker with a Master's in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner.
