Getting to know Lee Kandlbinder

I am Lee, a licensed independent clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience helping people navigate the challenges of their lives. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Salem State University and my Bachelor's degree from Boston University. I worked for many years as a mental health specialist in the Army and then provided mental health case management and crisis response services for veterans and their families. I am now offering therapy services for folks who prefer to get help from the comfort of their homes. I work with individuals from all walks of life. (I am not providing couples therapy at this time but do work with individuals on relationship issues). I know reaching out for help can be scary, but I truly look forward to hearing from you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion and I also have a sense of humor. My therapy approach combines cognitive-behavior mindfulness and a focus on goals and solutions. I have a strong understanding of many mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family problems, career challenges, and trauma. I have a deep empathy for folks from all walks of life and believe in the power of setting goals in therapy to improve one's experience. Although your life challenges are unique, there is truly nothing new under the sun and you are not alone. If you are ready to work together, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your first session with me, we will discuss the problems that prompted you to reach out for help. We'll get to know each other a bit, discuss our understanding of these problems, and develop some possible actions that can address them quickly. In subsequent sessions, we'll deepen our understanding of your life situation through a conversational 'life audit' process. A life audit focuses on each major area of one's life: Daily Life (habits, routines, overall lifestyle) Physical Health & Wellness Mental Health (outlook on life, awareness, motivation) Emotional Health (self-love, understanding and working with your emotions) Spirituality (your connection with, and understanding of the world around you) Relationships (family, friends, partners) Home (environment, belongings, resources) Digital Space (social media, technology usage, digital files) Finances (understanding of, and relationship with money) Community (connecting with and giving to your community) Contributions (career, responsibilities, projects) Growth (education, learning, exploration, self-improvement) Between sessions, you can message with me for learning and support. Once you are feeling better and have a clear plan and vision for the road ahead, I will be available for weekly, monthly or as needed check-ins to support you. There's never any pressure to continue and I never take it personally when you are ready to end our work together.

He also does an excellent job at giving advice as well as techniques and material to further look into for working out your issues. Lee is personable and friendly when talking to you.
Lee is insightful and easy going. I was very comfortable speaking and sharing with him. He has made the work of therapy seem less like a series of tasks and more like a levelling-up process. I highly recommend him to anyone trying therapy for the first time.
Lee has been a great help. I was in a really dark place before I met them they're kind understanding listening and I feel like they always have my back They help me deal with a lot of issues
Lee is a very good therapist! When I started out, I didn’t want a male therapist. When he was recommended for me, my mom asked just in case. I figured that i’d try it out. It ended up being a great choice. There is never pressure to schedule an appointment but he always checks in. Overall, He is an excellent therapist.
Over the last 5 years that I’ve been trying therapy I have never went to the same therapist for more than 2 or 3 sessions until I met Lee. Lee has given me a different perspective on how therapy can actually help and I feel blessed to have crossed paths with him. I no longer worry about having to find the right one and look forward to my sessions with him. He has helped me navigate through the obstacles in my life and I am happy to have him as a part of my support system. Lee is an amazing therapist and I would recommend him to anybody that needs help.
