Lee Trometer, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
NC
I work best with clients struggling with anxiety and/or panic attacks, but have experience working with various issues ranging from depression, trauma, and general life struggles. I utilize mindfulness-based techniques through acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) that aim to help clients find peace with their circumstances. These techniques frequently involve asking people to look at their thinking from a different perspective and giving tools to effectively change it. In addition, I also incorporate somatic based interventions. I like to create an environment where you feel comfortable. Although there is a level of professionalism I adopt as a clinician, I also know that we must loosen our ties and let down our hair once in a while. That being said, informality and humor are something I incorporate into sessions as it is a strong component of who I am. Cant wait to hear from you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Part of working with a therapist like me is acknowledging that the process may look different than what you expect. Since we're trying to guide your awareness to a calmer place, it might not help to have a deadpan, serious therapist staring you down from across the screen. I tend to keep our sessions on the looser side, not because I don't take your situation seriously, but because the looseness is part of the medicine. Our anxiety can lock us up and keep us rigid, and being able to smile, laugh, and be playful all help to overcome the pressures in our minds and lead them to a calmer, less activated state

What is your typical process for working with clients?

If you feel like I can help you with what you're struggling with, schedule an appointment, and my office will reach out to you to get intake paperwork sent out, check your insurance, and give you links for the appointment. I typically see people weekly on the time spot that they pick for the intake, though I can be flexible with that. The first session usually involves us collaborating to investigate what's going on, what you're noticing in your experience, and how we might create a plan to help you overcome your symptoms. Thank you for considering me - I look forward to working together!
