Leila Savage, AMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
As a multiracial Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Syrian roots, I take a compassionate, culturally attuned, and relational approach to therapy. I believe healing involves understanding how identity, culture, and lived experience shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. As the daughter of an immigrant, I bring both personal and clinical insight into working with adults, couples, and individuals within BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, eating disorders, and issues related to identity and self-esteem. My work is collaborative and tailored to your needs, drawing from approaches like CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-focused therapy, and solution-focused techniques. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can show up authentically and explore what’s been keeping you stuck. I’m warm, honest, and gently challenging when needed, always respecting your pace. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, build self-compassion, and move through life with greater clarity, confidence, and alignment. The provider is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Hope Matters Institute.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a collaborative, supportive, and culturally attuned experience. I focus on building a strong, trusting relationship first, because that’s where meaningful change happens. I tailor therapy to you—your pace, your goals, and your lived experience—drawing from approaches like CBT, IFS, and trauma-informed care. Some sessions may focus on practical tools, while others explore deeper patterns, identity, or past experiences. I’m warm, present, and honest, and I’ll gently challenge you when it supports your growth. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process starts with getting to know you—your story, what’s bringing you in, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. In the first few sessions, we focus on building trust, identifying patterns, and setting goals that feel meaningful to you. From there, sessions typically involve processing what’s coming up in your life, exploring thoughts and emotions, and developing tools you can use outside of therapy. I may introduce coping strategies, help you understand patterns, or guide you in looking at situations from a new perspective. Each session is collaborative and tailored to your needs—some days may be more structured, while others are more open and focused on what feels most important in the moment.
