Lesa Parker, LPC

Psychotherapist
PA
Hi! I'm Lesa Parker, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I take an eclectic approach to therapy, meeting clients where they are to build a strong relationship and create the best outcomes. I earned both my Bachelor's degree and a Master’s in School Psychology from PennWest California. My background in school psychology helped shape my understanding of mental health, but I found that counseling roles allowed me to make a deeper impact, which is why I pursued licensure as a professional counselor. I believe it’s important to understand why we think and feel the way we do, often rooted in childhood and past experiences. From there, I believe we can consciously choose to change. I use a variety of techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic methods, active listening, solution-focused therapy, grief counseling, and trauma-informed care. I typically work with individuals aged 12 and up, addressing mood disorders like depression, anxiety, anger management, emotional abuse, forgiveness, stress, grief, trauma, social skills, mental health with substance abuse, behavior issues, attention disorders, weight management, wellness, couples and family issues, self-esteem, and intellectual disabilities. My goal is to create a welcoming, accepting environment where everyone feels validated because all feelings are real and deserve acknowledgment. I also believe in being direct and sometimes challenge clients to view situations from different perspectives to help solidify their decisions. Looking back to middle school, I was often the friend people turned to for advice or a listening ear. I thought, “Maybe I should get paid for this!” Over time, my natural inclination to support others—whether friends or even stray animals—led me to this fulfilling career in mental healthcare.
