Lesli Stockwell, LPC

Psychotherapist
11777 Katy Fwy, Ste 350, Houston, TX
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me! I strive to offer human connection to my clients, through therapy, and meet them wherever they are in their life journey. My goal is to explore with my clients whatever treatment goals they may have and then create a safe space for my clients to share and heal and grow toward meeting their goals. I have experience treating anxiety, depression, substance abuse, schizophrenia, bipolar, and personality disorders. I have enjoyed running psychoeducational groups covering topics such as boundaries, assertiveness, grief, and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) skills. I'm currently offering ongoing intensives for those who have experienced narcissistic abuse and are looking to heal and find meaning going forward. I have extensive experience working with clients who are survivors of sexual abuse and/or domestic violence as well as addiction. As a former associate teacher with HISD, I also have trainings in suicide recognition and prevention. I'm currently in training as a CCTP (certified clinical trauma professional) using a relaxed body method to help clients process trauma without re-living the traumatic memory in a stressed or activated body. The gentlest way to process and metabolize trauma is by having the body in the parasympathetic nervous system instead of in the "fight or flight" mode of the sympathetic nervous system. I primarily use the character structure model to help clients find wholeness and integration. I learned this model by studying with the Townsend Institute under the leadership of clinical psychologist, and author, Dr. John Townsend. I also like to utilize concepts from other modalities, such as IFS and Gestalt. I focus on human attachment as well as the therapeutic relationship to model out what safe relationships should look like.
