Getting to know Leslie Capehart

Hello, I'm Dr. Leslie, an LMHC with over 25 years of experience and a background in diverse counseling settings, including clinical, private practice, and academia. I hold a PhD in Psychology from Walden University. My focus is on assisting individuals in navigating life's challenges for positive change. Managing life's stressors can be challenging. There are many times when we find ourselves stuck or overwhelmed, unsure how to move forward. Depression, anxiety, relationship stressors, self-esteem issues, boundaries, and other concerns can feel daunting and leave us feeling like victims of life’s circumstances. As a counselor, I will encourage, support, challenge, and assist you in moving beyond your current situation by helping identify those beliefs or areas of your life—your blind spots—that keep you stuck in repeating patterns often at the core of the issue. Using theories and techniques from cognitive psychology as well as other approaches, I will help you recognize distorted thought patterns that no longer serve you and provide the tools necessary to grow and move beyond your current challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect to better understand yourself and the connections between thoughts and emotions. My specialty as a counselor is helping you to quickly identify and understand your blind spots and move beyond them. Blind spots are those beliefs or areas of your life that often keep us stuck repeating the same patterns that often cause relationship problems, depression, anxiety, and other issues. As you gain insight into your patterns, you'll learn how to identify the distorted thought patterns that no longer work for you and have the tools necessary to grow and move beyond your current challenge.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Excellent at holding the space for me to think, reflect, and respond. Helps me consider alternative perspectives.
Leslie has been such a supportive influence for me as I’m processing very difficult times in my life.
I’m so thankful for her wisdom and knowledge. I highly recommend her!

Im so grateful to find someone who helps me. I tell everyone about her. She is warm empathetic, and yet knows how to guide me, and it gives me strength. I thought I could never be helped by anyone bc I’ve been in and out of counseling over a span of 20 years. Nothing compares to the help I have received from her! Her knowledge and experience and calmness , strong empathy , help transform me. She guides me out of the existential gloom and doom and just laying in bed crying all day. I thought would not end. Also has helped me with ruminating thoughts. I can be in a dark pit and see no way out( even not wanting to reach out for help or a session) ( but I do bc I know I need to do the inner work). She has a light and helps get me out of there. It’s an honor to have her help me.
A wonderful experience!!
