“Personable without being familiar. I appreciated the direct approach and present engaged demeanor. While the provider did not offer the services, I ultimately needed (EMDR) they secured a variety of other providers for me to follow up with, and ended up, connecting me directly with the person with whom I have my next appointment!”

Getting to know Leslie E. Wilborne

My name is Leslie. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor in the state of Connecticut. I hold a Master’s in Community Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, both from the University of New Haven. I have worked in various clinical settings, including but not limited to in-home, community, private practice, and outpatient settings. As a counselor, I have several years of experience providing counseling services to individuals of varying ages and diagnoses. Currently, I mainly specialize in trauma processing, racial identity, grief processing, anxiety, depression, stress management, low self-esteem, and relationship concerns. I would describe my practice as one built upon the belief that people begin to heal the moment they feel heard. I would be remiss if I did not mention that my personal history has cemented this belief and led me on my own journey toward healing, which has placed me in this position to help others on their journey. I believe my ability to connect with clients is universal.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I want clients to understand that humans are not their struggles or diagnoses. There is no shame in reaching out to talk, process or ask for help. I understand like in any relationship, a therapeutic relationship is built and fostered. I strive to build positive rapport and in doing so I pride myself in being transparent at all times and ask the same of my clients. Additionally, therapy does not have to feel like a task. I love providing a virtual space for the incorporation of laughter and relaxation. A space designated for whatever support/healing a client may need.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
