Getting to know Leslie Frame-Crowley

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois, supporting individuals, couples, and families across a wide variety of life stages and experiences. I hold a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Simmons University. I most frequently use cognitive behavioral therapy, but I take an eclectic approach to treatment using many frameworks as needed. I often use narrative therapy, attachment styles, and psychodynamic approaches.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that the most important element of therapy is the relationship between the provider and the client. I approach the therapeutic relationship from a strengths-based perspective with the belief that you are the expert of your own experience. Being a social worker, I also maintain a person-in-environment perspective, meaning that we are shaped by and always affecting the communities of which we are a part.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I often ask clients in our first session what they most need to get out of our work together, at this time. Often, identifying the challenge comes first. However, I think it is just as important to identify the intrinsic strengths that will help you to overcome the challenges you face.
