Reaching out for support—especially when life has felt heavy for a long time—takes real courage. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling exhausted, stuck, or unsure where to begin. You may be coping with stress, shame, anxiety, relationship challenges, or patterns you’ve tried to change on your own. I hold a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, with specialized training in addiction treatment, trauma work, and Military Psychology. I’ve been licensed in New York since 2018, and I provide therapy through my private practice, Van Buren Counseling, LLC, based in Albany, NY. My practice is built on compassion, steadiness, and respect. You’ll find a safe, grounded space where you can talk openly, be understood, and move at a pace that feels right for you. My goal is to walk alongside you—not tell you who to be, but support who you already are and who you’re becoming. Life can at times become very challenging. If you’re feeling overwhelmed you deserve a space where you can breathe, slow down, and be truly heard. At Van Buren Counseling, LLC, we offer a warm and supportive environment where you don’t have to carry everything alone. My practice is built on compassion, steadiness, and respect. What should a new client know about working with you?

My Approach I take a collaborative, gentle, and evidence-based approach to therapy. I believe healing grows from understanding, connection, and consistent support. Together, we’ll identify what’s getting in the way of the life you want and create a plan that helps you move forward with clarity and strength. Therapy Modalities I Use: • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) • Motivational Enhancement (ME) • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) • Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Additional Focus in Therapy: • Relapse prevention • Mindfulness and grounding • Trauma-informed stabilization • Emotional regulation skills • Identity, values, and meaning-focused work Clients can expect warmth, steadiness, and a space where they can speak freely without judgment or pressure.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients often share that they appreciate my calm, grounding presence and the safety they feel during sessions. Many describe therapy as a space where they can finally be honest, explore what’s been weighing on them, and begin to feel hopeful again. Our first consultation session is simply a conversation and absolutely free. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what you’re hoping will feel different, and how we can begin moving toward healing in a way that feels gentle and manageable. You set the pace—there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to.
