Getting to know Lesly Lopez

You may be managing anxiety, painful relationship patterns, past trauma, or the pressure of holding everything together for others. I provide warm, culturally responsive therapy in English and Spanish for adolescents and adults who want to better understand these patterns and make practical, lasting changes. Together, we will create a space where you feel heard while also developing tools you can use outside therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, especially when you are already anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure how to explain what you are experiencing. There is no right or wrong way to describe your experience. Offer yourself patience and grace for showing up and then trust in the therapeutic process! My first priority is helping you feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely heard. My style is warm, collaborative, and engaged. I will listen carefully while also helping you identify patterns, consider new perspectives, and develop practical strategies for daily life. Therapy with me is personalized rather than one-size-fits-all. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered therapy, existential therapy, and solution focused techniques. I work with concerns such as anxiety, depression, excessive worry, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, perfectionism, grief, loneliness, relationship difficulties, boundary issues, sleep problems, school or work pressure, and life transitions. We may focus on strengthening coping skills, improving communication, managing emotions, building confidence, setting healthier boundaries, or making decisions that better reflect your values.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we will map out where you are now and where you want to be. We will talk about what’s going on in your daily life, your history, and what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. It’s also your chance to get a feel for how I work and make sure you feel comfortable. No pressure—we will simply look at your priorities and set some realistic goals together.Therapy with me shifts as you do. We might dive into the habits, relationship patterns, or life transitions that are leaving you feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Depending on what you need each week, we will use a mix of tools: CBT to untangle your thoughts and feelings, person-centered therapy to build self-compassion, existential therapy to connect with your values, or solution-focused steps to get things moving.Over time, we will work on practical, real-world skills like managing tough emotions, setting boundaries, and communicating clearly. We will regularly check in to see what’s working best for you and pivot whenever your goals change.
