Lia Bigelow, LPC

Psychotherapist
PA
Hi there, I'm Lia! I am a dually Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), specializing in working with LGBTQ+ individuals managing substance use and mental health disorders. I am a Certified Addictions Professional in Florida and held equivalent certification in Pennsylvania for Addiction and Co-occurring disorders. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Rosemont College. I believe in the power of perspective shifts. I do not have an answer to every problem, but through partnership, I help guide you as you uncover your answers. My approach All therapies are strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed. CBT, Psychodynamic, and MI techniques renew your perspectives on life and develop tangible coping skills. EMDR assists people with simple and complex trauma who find traditional talk therapy challenging or triggering. During initial sessions, I collect background information to delve deeply into issues holding you back and create a plan to address and resolve symptoms. My focus We often get caught in negative thought patterns contributing to depression, anxiety, and substance misuse. Together, I help you identify and challenge these patterns, creating space for healthier, balanced thoughts and behaviors. In our first sessions, I ask many questions about your background and upbringing to understand your values, beliefs, and goals, so we can build a foundation aligned with what's most important. Common themes with LGBTQ+ populations include dysphoria, questions about transitioning, and family of origin issues, which I assist with as well. As a BIPOC therapist, I also use various techniques to address racial trauma and issues related to marginalization.
