34 N Island Ave, Ste F, Batavia, IL
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a background in neuroscience and a strong belief in the connection between mind, body, and emotional well-being. I earned a PhD in Science from the Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil, where I studied how the human brain functions, and I bring this scientific understanding into compassionate, practical therapy. Since 2020, I have worked with adults and couples facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life changes. My approach is collaborative, multicultural, and tailored to each client, drawing from attachment-based and Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-informed approaches. I strive to create a supportive space where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered to build a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Getting to know Lilian Contin

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, you can expect a supportive and collaborative space where we begin exploring what brings you to therapy and what feels most important to you right now. I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or challenges in their relationships and family life, and I aim to help you feel heard, respected, and understood from the start. Together, we will discuss your goals and begin shaping a treatment plan tailored to your needs, drawing from attachment-based and Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-informed approaches such as CPT and somatic work. Many clients begin to notice gradual relief of symptoms as we move forward, with continued progress over time, at a pace that feels right for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In a typical session, we begin by checking in about current stressors, emotions, and any changes since our last meeting. Sessions often include psychoeducation to help you better understand your experiences, symptoms, and patterns, as well as guided practice of skills that support emotional regulation, coping, and relationship growth. Each session is collaborative and flexible, allowing us to focus on what feels most relevant to you while building tools you can apply in your daily life.
