Lily Drofyak-Miller, LMHC

Psychotherapist
WA
My name is Lily Drofyak. I hold an LMHC in Washington state since 2014 and earned my Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling from Western Oregon University. My approach to therapy is holistic, person-centered, experiential, and existential. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, based on the belief that every person brings a unique and formative personal, family, and cultural experience. I have been influenced by Adlerian psychology, emphasizing the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. I focus on who you are and how you experience yourself-your strengths and “growth edges,” past and current relationship experiences, and your style of relating-along with biological influences on behavior and the impact of culture and society on you and your concerns. Many challenges in clients' lives stem from difficulties within their various relationships. Utilizing this strength-based approach helps clients discover and use their own individual strengths to overcome current challenges. I also incorporate CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy modalities. My focus includes relationship issues such as parenting, codependency, and interpersonal challenges; life transition issues; loss and grief; addiction-related concerns; and various traumas including childhood neglect, abuse, abandonment, narcissistic abuse, rape, domestic violence, religious trauma, poverty trauma, developmental traumas, primal wound, and personality disorders. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important component for therapy to be effective and worthwhile. Change happens when people feel heard and understood. I strive to create a collaborative, safe, and accepting environment where clients can explore their emotional needs and work toward change. I came to the US as a teenager and experienced many cultural difficulties as an immigrant, which informs my empathetic and culturally sensitive approach to mental healthcare.
