Lincoya Young, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
My name is Lincoya Young, and I am an LPCC licensed in Texas, California, and Oregon. I have been in the counseling profession for over 20 years. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University. My approach to therapy is that the client is the expert and ultimately holds the solution to their problem. My approach is client-centered and solution-focused, with a strong emphasis on the client being the expert. My focus is working with children, couples, and families. I especially enjoy working with children in a play therapy milieu. My communication style is empathic, validating, and very supportive. I focus on strengths, not pathology. My journey to therapy began after completing my first graduate program when I realized I wanted to be a therapist. I went back to school to earn my master's degree in counseling. This journey included moving from California to Texas and starting a whole new life without my family and friends. At times, it was arduous and challenging, but with faith and determination, I made it through. My goals for you are to ask open-ended questions such as: What do you want to get out of this process? What do you want to change? What will tell you therapy is helping? What will tell you we are a good fit? In our first session, you will know that I am actively listening and have a clear understanding of your expectations and objectives for counseling.
