Getting to know Dr. Linda Tamm

Trusting your crisis, your child’s problems, your marriage or fears of the future to someone new might seem like a big step. However, if you are tired of feeling stuck in anxiety, anger, confusion or sadness, our therapists want to help you start moving forward again. We’ve been providing high quality treatment and assessment in Somerset and Morristown since 2007. Strides offers both in-office sessions and virtual sessions (using HIPPA compliant platforms). We have experience with a variety of challenges, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief, traumatic stress, relationship conflict, and school problems. We provide individual treatment, couples counseling and family therapy. Some of our specialty areas include play therapy, EMDR, LGBTQIA+ clients, and learning evaluations.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take the mystery out of therapy by working collaboratively with you. My role then tends to be like a coach or instructor. We set goals together. We look for patterns in thinking, actions, and relationships that cause problems. We examine the positive and negative outcomes that cause people to get stuck in negative emotions. While we look to the past to learn how patterns are shaped, this treatment is present and future focused. It is more important to build on your strengths than to dwell on weaknesses. I have worked with children as young as two years old. I also see many teenagers as well as adults in hospice. Problems include tantrums, chronic illness, anxiety, hyperactivity, moodiness, depression, coping with divorce and grief. I treat individuals, couples and families. I have done medical letters of support for trans/nonbinary clients.
