CA
I’m a Licensed Psychotherapist who provides compassionate, insight-oriented therapy for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem struggles, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping patients better understand the deeper emotional patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I integrate psychodynamic therapy with practical coping strategies, mindfulness, and emotional regulation tools to support meaningful and lasting change. I believe healing begins with feeling truly seen, understood, and emotionally safe within the therapeutic relationship. I have experience working with adolescents and adults in both mental health and addiction treatment settings and strive to create a nonjudgmental space where patients can explore difficult emotions, relationships, trauma, identity, and personal growth at their own pace. My goal is to help patients build insight, strengthen emotional resilience, improve relationships, and move toward a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Getting to know Lindsey Kohn

What should a new client know about working with you?

Patients working with me can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they are encouraged to explore their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences openly. My style is compassionate, insight-oriented, and collaborative. I believe therapy is not just about symptom reduction, but also about understanding the deeper emotional patterns, past experiences, and relational dynamics that may be contributing to present struggles. I often integrate psychodynamic therapy with practical coping skills, mindfulness, emotional regulation techniques, and trauma-informed approaches to help patients feel both supported and empowered. Sessions may involve exploring childhood experiences, attachment patterns, self-worth, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, or the ways past experiences continue to shape current emotions and behaviors. I strive to create a space where patients feel emotionally safe, genuinely heard, and able to move at a pace that feels comfortable while still working toward meaningful growth and healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals. In the first few sessions, I focus on getting to know the patient as a whole person — including current challenges, emotional patterns, relationships, past experiences, strengths, and what they hope to gain from therapy. I also work to create a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship where patients feel comfortable being open and honest without fear of judgment. A typical session may involve exploring emotions, thought patterns, relationship dynamics, life stressors, trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, or behavioral patterns that may be contributing to distress. I often help patients increase insight into the deeper emotional roots of their struggles while also incorporating practical coping strategies, mindfulness, grounding skills, and emotional regulation tools that can be applied in everyday life. My work is insight-oriented and psychodynamic in nature, meaning we may explore how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence current emotions, relationships, and behaviors. At the same time, I aim to keep therapy grounded, supportive, and practical so patients leave sessions with both deeper understanding and tools they can actively use outside of therapy.
