Getting to know Lindsey Van Roo

I have been working with clients of all ages and identities since graduating with my Master's in Social Work from Utah Valley University in 2019. I enjoy meeting and working with individuals, families, and couples. In our sessions, we focus on emotional regulation skills, understanding our reactions and responses, processing past trauma, and creating a better relationship with yourself and those around you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use different modalities within sessions and cater the approach to your needs. We first meet to assess and understand what those needs may be then moving forward use different approaches to support each individual, couple, or family that is present. Some modalities I use are CBT, DBT, MI, and IFS all with a person centered approach.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our initial session we will get to know more about you, your family history, and background leading to coming into therapy. We will then set a goal together for therapy moving forward. In sessions following that it can be whatever the client needs. This can look like processing stressful situations or trauma, learning skills, and having a safe space to talk and receive support.

Lindsey is very professional. She has a great wealth of knowledge and tools that have aided me in improving and healing myself.
I have been very satisfied with Lindsey as therapist so far. She has been kind and validating, while being constructive to help formulate a plan for where I want to improve my being. It has all impacted my mental health positively having Lindsey as an outlet for venting and gaining some great insight. I would recommend her to anyone looking for their first therapist, or in search of a new one.
Lindsey is such a wonderful therapist and I'm so grateful that I was lucky enough to find her. Before my first therapy session, I was very worried about feeling judged and being so emotionally exposed but Lindsey immediately created such a safe and comfortable environment that I ended up delving into topics that I wasn't sure I would ever be comfortable bringing up. She has shown such genuine empathy and compassion throughout our sessions, her insightful questions have really been helping me understand myself. She's always validated my feelings and helps me see things from a different perspective. Lindsey explains complex concepts in such a clear and understandable way and the mindfulness exercises we practice have been so helpful. I still have a long way to go but Lindsey is helping me feel confident and capable in my ability to heal and grow.
Lindsay is fantastic. As I’ve met with her consistently for the last year, she’s provided valuable insights which have helped me understand myself, my past, my emotional state, my goals, my career, my challenges, and my spouse and my family relationships better. She has helped me learn frameworks to deal with stress and anxiety, steps to dealing with failure and uncertainty, and ways to overcome fear to take action and improve my life. I’d wholeheartedly recommend meeting with her to anyone looking for someone to both teach and listen amazingly.
Ms Van Roo is amazing she truly dose care about her clints and it shows, Thank you for all you've Done you truly are amazing.
Very helpful! It helps me a lot to have a safe space to talk about my problems and how my brain tends to process things, as well as being given credit for when I'm progressing.
