I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with both a Master’s in Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri. I have been providing mental health services for individuals and families for over 10 years. My counseling style is centered on developing a safe, supportive, and trusting therapeutic relationship. I practice from a psychodynamic and trauma-informed theoretical framework; however, I do not believe there is a “one size fits all” style of treatment. My goal is always to provide a validating, affirming, and judgment-free space so clients can be their authentic selves and feel seen. Everyone has a story, and every story deserves to be heard! Many of the individuals and couples I work with are experiencing anxiety, depression, major life changes, difficulties managing everyday stressors, and interpersonal relationship issues. They come to therapy to explore their histories, increase self-awareness, identify patterns, improve communication, process feelings and emotions, and gain coping skills and tools to better manage their circumstances. In working together, you can expect me to provide honest and compassionate feedback. I recognize that every client comes to therapy with unique experiences and needs, which is why taking time to build rapport and a therapeutic relationship is essential to identifying goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I earned a Masters in Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in clinical mental health and a bachelor's degree in Sociology from University of Missouri- Columbia. During my graduate program, I first interned with a specialized child welfare agency working with children who were at risk of losing foster care placements due to behavioral and mental health needs. In my second year, I interned with a community mental health agency working with adults who experienced chronic and persistent mental health needs. In both roles, I conducted case management tasks and participated in individual and group therapy. After finishing my master’s program, I moved to Chicago and continued my work in community mental health serving adults in a residential program that provided permanent supportive housing. I also started providing group therapy and developing programming to teach clients life skills necessary for independent living. I found my time working in community mental health invaluable as I was able to see firsthand the systems that have a profound impact on the clients and families I served. After working in community mental health for several years, I transitioned to an integrated assessment program through La Rabida Children’s Hospital. I worked as a Clinical Screener, assessing families involved with DCFS due to abuse and neglect allegations. Interviewing children and families, hearing their stories, and seeing firsthand how intergenerational trauma impacts family systems had a profound impact on my understanding of trauma. This experience further solidified the psychodynamic theoretical framework I utilize in my therapeutic approach. While working with adolescents in this capacity, I utilized a trauma informed approach for exploring their histories, relationships with family members and feelings around their current circumstances.
