Lisa Blechschmidt, MA

Lisa Blechschmidt, MA

Psychotherapist
WA
I work with people who are used to holding it all together for everyone else but are quietly feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck. I specialize in supporting individuals in helping professions, as well as those navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted, unsure about big decisions, or disconnected from themselves after prioritizing others for so long. My approach is collaborative, direct, and grounded in real-life application. I combine evidence-based practices with a focus on helping you understand the “why” behind your patterns while building practical tools for change. Whether we’re working on improving sleep, processing grief, exploring identity outside of relationships, or gaining clarity around major life decisions, our work will be intentional and tailored to you. I bring a trauma-informed lens to therapy and incorporate modalities like EMDR when appropriate, especially for clients feeling stuck in cycles of stress, helplessness, or burnout. Therapy with me isn’t about “fixing” you; instead, it’s about helping you reconnect with your own clarity, agency, and capacity to make aligned decisions. I aim to create a space that feels both supportive and honest, where you can show up as you are. If you’re feeling stretched thin, at a crossroads, or ready to make meaningful shifts, I’d be honored to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is collaborative, honest, and focused on real change. I tend to be more direct than purely passive. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, reflect patterns I notice, and gently challenge you when it feels important. At the same time, I prioritize creating a space where you feel supported, respected, and able to show up as you are. I work well with people who are insightful and motivated, but may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. Many of my clients are used to being the “strong one” and aren’t used to having space for themselves. I work well with folks who rely on intellectualizing their problems (knowing the why, where, who, etc) but still can't seem to create change with that information. Our sessions will focus on both understanding and action. We’ll explore the underlying patterns, beliefs, and experiences shaping what you’re going through, while also building practical tools you can use in your day-to-day life. I often incorporate structured approaches when helpful, but always tailor the work to fit you rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all model.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I am happy to start our work with a consultation call to see if we are a good fit. If so, my billing team will give you some insight into what the cost of therapy might look like so you have full transparency moving forward. In our first few sessions, I focus on getting a full picture of what’s bringing you in, your history, and what you want to change or better understand. We’ll identify goals together and begin to map out patterns that may be contributing to what you’re experiencing. Ongoing sessions are a balance of exploration and practical work. We’ll check in on what’s coming up for you, process emotions or experiences in real time, and connect those to larger patterns, beliefs, or past experiences when relevant. I’ll also help you build concrete tools and strategies you can use outside of session—so therapy feels useful in your day-to-day life, not just while we’re talking. Depending on your needs, sessions may include skill-building, decision-making support, processing grief or stress, or deeper trauma work. If appropriate, I may incorporate approaches like EMDR to help address experiences that feel “stuck” or continue to impact you even though they are in the past. I’m an active and engaged therapist, so you can expect thoughtful questions, honest feedback, and collaboration throughout the process. My goal is to help you gain clarity, feel more grounded, and make meaningful, sustainable changes over time.
