“I did several sessions of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with Lisa. This is not the normal "talk" therapy sessions. I had 40+ year old trauma still in my body. The stuck trauma can show up as anxiety, depression, addiction, low self esteem etc. At 61 I was still living in constant hyper vigilance(fight mode when feeling threatened in any way) state. Look this therapy up! It is the real deal, I was amazed at the results! Lisa is a wonderful practioner/counselor. She really listens and meets you where you are. I am SO grateful I found her! HIGHLY recommend Lisa and the EMDR therapy. Do it!”

Getting to know Lisa Davila O'Toole

I work with individual adults via Telehealth. My clients come to me because they are suffering from anxiety, depression, or relationship issues despite all they have tried before, sometimes even therapy. I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. I believe the client-therapist relationship is essential and therefore strive to provide a therapeutic experience of acceptance and compassion to promote a space for healing, resolution, and goal attainment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work from a holistic and healing approach considering all aspects of your lifestyle. As such, you can expect to be empowered with an individual understanding of wellness and applicable tools to create a life well lived.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I am passionate about helping people navigate through difficulties that life can deliver such as: anxiety, depression, career issues or transitions, relationship issues, parenting concerns, family issues, grief, stress management, women's issues, trauma and other life transitions. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma and other psychological stressors such as anxiety and depression. EMDR also helps in reaching peak performance in various areas.

More information on payments and coverage

Filing an insurance claim requires submitting a mental health diagnosis and, at times, clinical notes to a third party. This information can appear in your permanent medical record and may be accessible in future insurance underwriting decisions. Private pay keeps your mental health information out of that system. Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are accepted and qualified forms of payment. A superbill can be provided for out-of-network payments to be filed with your insurance for possible reimbursement (depending on your insurance policy).

Lisa is a thoughtful EMDR practitioner who helped me reframe traumatic childhood memories. I have seen a marked improvement in my mental health since working with her. I would highly recommend her services.
I’ve had around 5 sessions with Lisa, and I’m already noticing a positive change in my outlook and feelings. She gives active suggestions and provides a non-judgmental space. Her EMDR technique so far has helped me to process thoughts, memories, and trauma that play a role with how I feel today.

I had the privilege of working with Lisa Davila for a long time and I cannot recommend her highly enough. From the very first session, she made me feel heard, understood, and supported. Her warm and empathetic approach created a safe space where I felt comfortable opening up about my struggles. Lisa is incredibly skilled in CBT, EMDR , and she tailored her techniques to meet my unique needs. She helped me gain clarity on anxiety, relationship challenges, self-esteem, and provided practical tools that have made a significant difference in my daily life. What stands out most about Lisa is her ability to listen without judgment and offer insights that feel both empowering and actionable. Thanks to her guidance, I’ve seen meaningful progress in many areas and I feel more confident and resilient than ever before. I’m so grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking therapy.

Lisa provided me with mental health care for years after the birth of my first child, and before and after the birth of my second. I eventually had to stop seeing her for services when my insurance changed, but the time we worked together was very valuable to me. She provided me with such great care that was compassionate, professional, effective, and pragmatic. I always knew she was listening actively to me, and she worked with other of my health care providers to provide me what I needed to be a healthier human and parent. I am so grateful for Lisa, and know that she is going to be a powerful presence in the lives of many others,
Lisa has helped me so much from the first session on. I have been in therapy for over 20 years but I feel like I've done more healing with the work I've done in the past few years with Lisa. I strongly recommend here to anyone dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting issues and trauma.
I am a medical provider, and I don’t give feedback unless one is exceptional. I highly recommend Ms. Lisa to anyone who needs therapy. From the very beginning of our sessions, I was impressed by Ms. Lisa’s ability to create a warm, safe, and non-judgmental environment where I felt heard and understood. Her welcoming and empathetic demeanor immediately put me at ease, making it easier to discuss and explore deeply personal and sensitive topics. She is compassionate, patient, kind, and unwavering support throughout our therapeutic relationship. Lisa also does EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is a psychotherapy approach performed by trained therapists that is primarily used to help individuals who experienced trauma, such as flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, and hyperarousal, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She is very dedicated to her profession and for helping me navigate the complexities of my emotions and experiences.
Lisa has been instrumental in getting me through so much. Not only did she get me through cancer but my sisters suicide that happened over 20 years ago. I had not dealt with a lot of issues. By using the EMDR we have made many discoveries of issues and feelings that I had not dealt with. Lisa is truly amazing and I highly recommend her!
Lisa is absolutely amazing. She has helped me tremendously over the years. She told me that the plan was to help me so I don’t have to see her every week and she was right! I have referred several people to her and they love her. If you are considering therapy she is the therapist to see. She treats the whole body, not just your mind. Lisa you are the best!!!
I first started seeing Lisa to help me recover from a traumatic time in my life. I found her to be very compassionate and understanding and that made the EMDR therapy I was receiving less stressful and more impactful. I now do online integrative therapy as needed and appreciate her non-judgmental, thoughtful approach. I highly recommend her for your therapy needs.
Grateful to have taken the first step and found Lisa. She is kind, professional, approachable, listens well, comfortable to talk to, and offers actionable guidance.
I cannot say enough good things about Lisa! She has seen me at my worst, and persevered in helping me in ways I never imagined. The manner in which Lisa practices is comforting, knowledgeable and open. She is great at understanding that every patient needs a customized approach, and helped me understand myself better than I ever thought possible. I would even venture to say that Lisa has taken the time and patience to know me better than anyone else, including my spouse! Working in healthcare myself, I can appreciate the care and intentional manner with which Lisa approaches therapy. She actively listens while also gently helping keep the conversation going-which leads to active progress and measurable success. I strive to be as good in my patient-care practices as Lisa and I have yet to meet another therapist as good as her.
I tried several, before seeing Lisa. I felt heard in the beginning when it was needed and as it progressed, so did the focus to adjust to where I was. I went through a severely traumatic experience and I needed a partner to help keep me upright, make me understand that there was a way and show me the way forward.
I had such a great time working with Lisa! She's super easy to talk to and really made me feel comfortable sharing. What I loved the most was how she could adjust our sessions based on how I was feeling each day. It's clear she listens and understands because she helped me with stuff I didn't even know where to begin with. Plus, the EMDR therapy technique she introduced was a game-changer in helping me open up even more. She also gave me some really handy techniques to deal with my anxiety and stress. I totally recommend her – she's played a big part in getting my life on a better track!
I was broken and lost in chaos as a result of childhood trauma. In my late 20s my inner child yearned for a trustworthy, safe, and supportive therapist to finally heal from old and fresh wounds of abuse. Through failed attempts of cognitive behavioral therapy, I found true healing through EMDR therapy. Through this method, my subconscious mind was freed from harboring memories and pain. Now in my mid 30s, I owe my healing and success to Lisa Dávila O’Toole for her safe environment, professionalism, and her discerning and empathetic spirit. I highly recommend everyone to experience EMDR therapy with her. The journey may be tough but the end results create clarity, true healing, and ways to continue mindfulness in the real world.
Lisa to this day is still my favorite therapist I’ve ever had! Although i do not have sessions with her, (my insurance doesn’t take her) I highly recommend her services. She helped me understand that seeking help and going through therapy is normal and healthy. She does EMDR, i believed that helped me process a lot of trauma, hurt, and sadness i was experiencing. I still use a lot of her techniques, i am the best version of myself because of therapy and her services.
Lisa is extremely responsive. She actively listens and creates a safe, relaxing, and non-judgmental therapy environment. She is truly dedicated to providing high-quality services and always maintains professionalism. Her holistic approach aims to understand all aspects of an individual and not just their mental health needs. I highly recommend seeing Lisa for therapy services!
Lisa has been incredibly instrumental in changing the trajectory of my life. She equipped me with the tools to make the changes and walked alongside me during some very dark times. She is knowledgeable, professional, and does her work with excellence. I would recommend every member of my family and any friend to work with Lisa. She’s hands down one of the best.
