Psychotherapist

*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* I believe therapy is something everyone can benefit from, as sometimes we all just need someone to talk to-even on the best of days. I work with clients who struggle with mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma, stress, and more, ranging from massive life events to day-to-day struggles. Through talk therapy, I hope to provide clients with tools that help make living life easier and educate them on the ways their mind works to allow for a better understanding of self. One of my biggest goals is to provide a space in our sessions where clients feel safe, comfortable, heard, and genuinely cared for. This is often developed through genuine conversation, learning together, and meeting clients where they are while developing a plan together to get them to where they want to be. While I am kind, empathic, and understanding, there is always room for a smidge of sarcasm and a sweet and sassy vibe, along with a few of my favorite things like animals, food, nature, yoga/fitness, and a solid true crime podcast. At the very least, counseling allows you to have the space to get your thoughts and feelings out in a private, confidential, and judgment-free environment. We can all use someone to talk to and, along the way, learn about ourselves and others. Self-care is crucial, and you deserve to do good things for yourself-just as you would take care of your body, your mind deserves that same level of care. Lisa Denish has a Master’s in Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Lisa Denish is a Licensed Associate Counselor, LAC 37AC00813100 at Cerebral. Supervised by Renee Cross, Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC 37PC00937400.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have been fortunate enough to work with clients from all difference backgrounds, demographics, and diagnosis. I work with children, teens, young adults and adults. I am experienced in working with a wide range mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma, relationship issues and more. I work best with clients who want to grow and adapt, and are ready and willing to do the sometimes challenging, but incredibly important work of healing. I love when clients are open and willing to team up with me to find beauty in the wreckage, and to build a foundation for a happier and healthier future.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I view counseling as a collaborative effort between myself and my clients. My goal is to provide and environment that is rooted in safety, trust and openness. We will work together and learn together to get you where you want to be. While there will be challenging conversations (it is counseling after all), I will be in it with you. We will laugh, cry and learn together, always keeping your wellbeing will always be at the forefront. I am just a human helping other humans, and I encourage mutual accountability. Never hesitate to let me know what you need!
