Psychotherapist
1590 E 2nd St, Scotch Plains, NJ
As an integrative therapist, I utilize modalities including CBT and DBT, but most of my work is rooted in the EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) model. As a certified EMDR therapist, I see the world through the AIP (adaptive information processing) lens. When something today causes distress, anxiety, anger, depression, irritability, indecisiveness, or discomfort, the way we experience it is rooted in how we have learned to think about ourselves from all our past experiences. EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based modality that addresses trauma and can rewire the brain to make current triggers less upsetting and help you draw on your internal resources to cope. It’s effective for anxiety, OCD, difficult life transitions, and relationship issues. I am a PMH-C (Certified Perinatal Mental Health Clinician), with extensive training in perinatal mood disorders such as postpartum anxiety and depression. I love working with women and men along the fertility journey, including infertility, IVF, third-party reproduction like surrogacy and egg donation, healing from traumatic birth, and grief around miscarriage and loss. Parenthood phases may leave you wondering when you’ll feel “normal” or “like you” again. Being a new parent can also bring up past feelings, like your relationship with your parents or insecurities about your body. Our lives and therapeutic journeys are rarely straight lines. To understand your present anxiety, depression, or insecurities, we may need to detour from what’s in front of us and look deeper. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University. I completed my undergraduate studies at Tufts University and my internship at Monmouth Medical Center.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our lives, like our therapeutic journeys, are almost never straight lines. In order to figure out your present anxiety, depression, or insecurities, we may have to detour from what’s right in front of us and look a little deeper.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I offer standard 50-55 minute sessions, either in person or virtual. I offer couple's sessions for perinatal issues. I also offer extended EMDR sessions (90 or 120 minutes) for clients who have already had an intake and/ or preparation session. This model can be highly effective in addressing traumatic memories or PTSD related anxiety and discomfort in fewer sessions
