Psychotherapist

I believe that therapy can help usher people through difficult challenges through partnership, collaboration and honest communication. I have been a practicing clinical social worker for 23 years, and have found that some of the best opportunities for change happen when someone is faced with a crisis or moment of reckoning. I want to empower clients to face those moments with resilience by building new skills, becoming more self-aware, and to challenge patterns that are not serving them. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and specialize in dealing with the effects of developmental, chronic and complex trauma, but also have extensive experience working with all anxiety, mood, and stress disorders. I have extensive training in various therapy modalities which help clients look deeply at their interpersonal relationships, emotional responses and increase their self-awareness. Together we will develop strategies to manage anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and challenge old patterns. I use techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Collaborative Problem Solving and I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe it’s essential for you to work with a therapist who feels like the right fit. I see therapy as a collaborative, creative process built on direct, honest, and genuine communication. I like to be an active participant in the therapy process and I maintain an open mind throughout each session. You can expect thoughtful feedback, practical tools, and real conversation, not just nodding along. Together, we work to clarify your goals and make the changes you would like to see including how you manage yourself, your relationships and the world around you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session we will get to know each other and begin to determine if we are a good fit. We will discuss confidentiality, boundaries and procedures so things are clear from the start. I hope to get to know what brings you to therapy and do some brief goal setting so I can evaluate if I am the best therapist to help you along your journey.
