Lisa L. Vanderpool, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hello, I’m Lisa! My name is Lisa Vanderpool, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Bachelor’s degree from Florida International University. I work with adults and teenagers and specialize in anxiety, stress, depression, substance issues, life transitions, trauma, and LGBTQ+ affirming care. I use a blend of therapy techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Mindfulness techniques, to help my clients make progress, start feeling better, and navigate life more successfully. My approach to therapy is individualized, based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychoeducation, Collaborative Language Systems, and Mindfulness techniques. These approaches help me and the client create a shared understanding of their experiences and allow us to work together to find a path forward. My style and approach are a good fit for adults and teens dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, substance issues, life transitions, obsessive-compulsive (OCD) tendencies, trauma (PTSD), attention issues (AD/HD), anger, relationship and parenting issues, educational or career paths, and LGBTQ+ concerns. I offer practical suggestions that may help reduce anxiety, depression, and overthinking while improving sleep, healthy habits, communication skills, and overall functioning. I also teach what is happening in the brain during anxiety and depression and enjoy recommending insightful documentaries or books for better understanding. My communication style is straightforward, personable, supportive, humorous, compassionate, and kind. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I listen intently for understanding, clarity, and without judgment.
