Getting to know Lisa Merz
Beginning therapy can be a vulnerable time for someone. Therapy provides a safe space to work on healing, increase feelings of hope, and gain support. I provide therapy to children, teens, and adults who are experiencing stress, life transitions or changes, or who have experienced trauma. I have experience working in the areas of grief and loss, anxiety, depression, divorce, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and adoption. I also enjoy working with women on relationships, stress, and fertility struggles.
I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Nebraska Omaha and have training in a variety of evidence-based practices, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI). I am also certified as an Adoption Competent Therapist and provide Brainspotting.
Taking the steps to start or continue your therapy journey takes courage. The journey can be difficult and overwhelming at times. My hope for therapy is to provide a safe space for you to share your story. If you continue to carry the bricks from your past, you will end up building the same house.
