Hi, I’m Lisa (she/her), a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Indiana specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, grief, addiction, mood disorders, and life transitions. I provide LGBTQIA+ affirming, WPATH-informed, and culturally responsive therapy for adults seeking support, healing, and lasting change. I offer a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach that helps clients feel safe, understood, and empowered. My practice is rooted in a multicultural, feminist, eco-conscious perspective, and I have a special interest in serving LGBTQ+ clients, women, people of color, and service members, especially those from marginalized communities. I earned my Master of Science in Psychology from Purdue University and have additional academic training in addictions, neuroscience, and women’s studies from Indiana University. My approach is holistic and individualized, drawing from evidence-based therapies including CBT, ACT, REBT, motivational interviewing, DBT-informed skills, and person-centered therapy. I tailor treatment to each client rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. What makes me different from many therapists is the balance I bring between clinical expertise and authentic human connection. I incorporate warmth, humor, collaboration, and practical tools so clients can better understand themselves and learn to work with their brains instead of against them. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, with more than 22 years of LGBTQ+ mentoring experience, I am deeply committed to creating an affirming space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, burned out, or ready for change, therapy can help you build resilience, increase self-understanding, and move toward a more grounded and authentic life. If you are looking for a therapist who combines evidence-based care with compassion and a real-life perspective, I invite you to schedule an appointment today.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, affirming, and collaborative, with space for honesty, depth, and meaningful growth. I work to create an environment where you feel safe being fully yourself while also feeling supported to move forward. My approach is tailored rather than one-size-fits-all. I integrate evidence-based therapies such as CBT, ACT, REBT, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, DBT-informed skills, and psychodynamic insight, depending on your needs and goals. I balance compassion with gentle challenge, helping you better understand your patterns, build practical tools, and work with your mind instead of against it. In our first visit, we will explore what brings you in, what feels most important, and what you want from therapy. My goal is for sessions to feel grounded, thoughtful, and genuinely helpful from the start.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session begins with understanding what brings you in, what feels most difficult right now, and any clinical concerns you want to explore. Early sessions also include the natural process of getting to know each other and building trust, which can feel a little uncomfortable at first, and that is completely normal. As our work continues, sessions become more focused on deepening insight, identifying patterns, and clarifying goals so therapy can move you toward the change you are hoping for. Depending on your needs, we may process emotions, explore past and present experiences, strengthen coping skills, and develop practical tools you can use outside of session. My goal is for therapy to feel thoughtful, supportive, and purposeful from the beginning, while creating a space where you feel understood and able to grow at your own pace.
