Psychotherapist

I meet you where you are—without judgment or expectation. Therapy with me is tailored to your needs, blending practical tools with deeper exploration. I use techniques to help you feel better quickly, along with approaches to uncover patterns and create lasting change. I have two specialty areas: I specialize in supporting women with chronic illness and co-occurring mental health challenges, honoring the toll illness takes on body, mind, and spirit. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space for your healing. This is your healing journey, I’m here to walk beside you as you create a life you want to live. My second area of specialty is working with college and university students. I have worked for 25 years in counseling centers providing mental health counseling, career counseling and academic counseling most recently at Vanderbilt and Duke. College can be overwhelming and it often feels as if you don't have the skills needed to be successful. Counseling can help bring together all of the parts and pieces so you can feel whole and equal to the challenges that college will inevitably bring!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Beginning therapy and sharing your difficulties, fears, dreams and desires is challenging. I focus on providing a warm and safe therapeutic environment so you can be yourself. It is your healing journey; therefore, I focus on what you need to have the kind of life you want to live. My style is relaxed and conversational, as I am on this journey with you. I primarily employ an existential theoretical basis, as I feel understanding why we are here and our purpose, are key to building a satisfying life. I use a variety of techniques to develop understanding and compassion for oneself, allowing all parts of you to find expression and voice.
