Getting to know Lisa Steffich
Hi there, I'm Lisa!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor currently licensed in West Virginia and South Carolina. I am very passionate about helping clients work through their adverse childhood experiences (CPTSD) and helping them identify how those experiences are impacting them in the present. I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, transitions in life, decision-making, grief, etc. I am EMDR certified. I also offer Christian-based therapy.
My approach
I have worked in the school system, outpatient clinics, juvenile drug court, and now private practice. I firmly believe that there is not a “one size fits all” type of therapy, but that the method of treatment will vary from person to person depending on their individual need. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, REBT, person-centered, solution-focused, journal therapy, mindfulness, Gottman, etc. I am certified in EMDR therapy. I also offer Christian-focused therapy. My main goal is to make my clients feel seen, heard, validated, and supported. I promise to always do my best to create a warm, inviting, accepting, empathetic, and safe environment for all of my clients.
My focus
My ideal clients are ages 21+. I do not see crisis clients due to my business being solely telehealth at this time. I love working with clients, mainly women, who feel like they are "stuck" in life. Clients who feel like they keep repeating patterns in the following areas: self-esteem, relationships (romantic and friendship), career, finance, parenting, and just life in general.
My communication style
I strive to create a calm, friendly, warm, and inviting environment for my clients to feel safe in sharing anything that is on their mind. A place that is free of judgment and criticism.
My first session with you
Typically, the first session is similar to an intake. I like to gather information on the client in order to get a better picture of their life.
