Getting to know Lisa Valiente
I approach therapy as "expert companionship," guiding people toward healing and personal growth, where they can feel safe and free to learn how to shift from surviving to thriving. In my therapy sessions, my top priority is to create an environment where each person feels emotionally safe and accepted, regardless of their issues. I provide a welcoming space to explore what is happening, try out new skills, adopt new perspectives, and approach problems in new ways.
I often work with individuals overcoming depression or anxiety, healing from childhood trauma, dealing with grief and loss, navigating life transitions, or who simply do not feel like themselves and don't know why. I consider myself eclectic in my approach to fit the needs of each person, but I tend to favor the following therapeutic modalities: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, object relations, attachment, and psychodynamic therapies.
I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of St. Francis, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively through their unique journeys.
