I believe when you lead with curiosity and flexibility, anyone can find their way through. This is how I approach each and every client I get the opportunity to know. I'll bring professional experience, education, and training (and my own anecdotal history with anxiety and depression); you bring just enough hope to log into the session, and we will find the way through together. My approach I consider myself an integrative therapist. I weave in approaches from many different models so that we can find what works for you as an individual. An important part of working with me is an understanding that I "break the fourth wall" in therapy. I provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to include Behavioral Activation for anxiety and depression; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD; for personality disorders and complex trauma, I provide Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Again, I weave in the theory and interventions from all of these models for most clients, and we will always discuss the "why" together. My focus Oftentimes times the very concerns that bring us into therapy become the barriers to getting the care we need. Depression robs us of the ability to get out of bed. Anxiety makes it too nerve-racking to take the first step. Trauma creates a fear response around new places and people. My personal history and preference for offering therapy virtually, I believe, help overcome these barriers. Can't get out of bed? Want to keep the video off? Need to email a bit to warm up? I'll meet you right where you are. My communication style Therapy is not meant to be a lecture series or feel like an interrogation, and it is also not meant for you to monologue while I take notes. There is an open dialogue, with us both asking and answering, and for the most part, therapy with me is a partnership where we share the floor. I weave in humor, I never forget we are both humans, and I always lead with your best interest in mind.
