Liz-El Black, MA

Psychotherapist
PA
Liz-El Black is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. I am a trauma-informed therapist who works with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and identity-related stress. My approach is collaborative and individualized, with an emphasis on creating a therapeutic space that feels respectful, supportive, and grounded in each client’s lived experience. I work frequently with marginalized communities while remaining open to supporting clients of all genders, races and identities. I also have a strong commitment to culturally responsive care for BIPOC clients, recognizing the impact of systemic stress, racial trauma, and underrepresentation within therapeutic spaces. As a Black queer woman, I bring both clinical training and lived awareness to this work, without assuming any one experience fits all. Clients come to therapy for many reasons—processing past experiences, feeling stuck, managing emotional overwhelm, or learning how to prioritize themselves after long periods of survival. Together, we explore patterns, identify triggers, and develop coping strategies and new responses that align with your values and goals. I integrate evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral strategies, emotion regulation skills, and strengths-based approaches to support growth and healing. Therapy is a space to focus fully on you—your needs, your pace, and your well-being. Having consistent, compassionate support can make life’s challenges feel more manageable and create room for meaningful change. Liz-El Black has a Masters in Counseling from Thomas Jefferson University. Liz-El Black is a Counselor in Training (CIT) at Cerebral. Supervised by Eric Lavalle, Licensed Professional Counselor, LMHC10003474 (MA) and PC011223 (PA).
