Getting to know Lobelia Lee

Hello! Thanks for visiting my profile. My name is Libby, and I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and families representing some of the most vulnerable populations. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Edgewood College. As a Black female therapist on my own mental wellness journey, I recognize the huge stigma connected to addressing mental health treatment in Black and Brown communities. Several barriers contribute to the gap in mental health care, including a lack of cultural representation among providers, an overwhelming fear of sharing personal history with a stranger, and the risk of being stigmatized by family or friends. The biggest obstacle is silence! Unfortunately, many are suffering alone, which allows unhealthy generational patterns like anxiety, depression, and PTSD (to name a few) to continue. My goal is to interrupt these negative patterns by creating space for healing and rewriting your story.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I get it! Starting with a new therapist can be overwhelming, whether you are new to therapy or have previous experience. My clients would likely say my sessions are like talking with an old friend. I lead with a sense of empathy, active listening, and compassion for the therapeutic process, with a zest of humor sprinkled throughout. I may challenge some of your assumptions or perceptions or propose different ways of looking at, thinking about, or handling situations. This may cause you to feel upset, challenged, or disappointed. Change will sometimes be easy and swift, but more often it will be slow even frustrating at times. Just know healing through change is possible. You got this!

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
