Psychotherapist
120 E Innes St Building A, Suite 6, Salisbury, NC
Hi, I’m Loren Goldstein, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in both North Carolina and New York State. For over 15 years, I’ve been helping adults and adolescents (16+) work through trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders so they can find healing and move forward with confidence. I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help clients process painful experiences and reduce their emotional impact. These approaches support lasting healing by targeting the root causes of distress. I earned my M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from the State University of New York, College at Brockport, and I’m licensed in both North Carolina and New York. My approach is rooted in empathy, kindness, and curiosity. Therapy with me is about healing, building resilience, and helping you move toward a more fulfilling life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Do you notice familiar obstacles popping up in different areas of your life? For example, are similar relationship issues reappearing, or are you facing the same conflicts at work or in personal habits? Are there emotions that you seem to experience repeatedly, such as loneliness, anxiety, or sadness, when confronting similar situations? This is frustrating, but you're not alone! As a therapist, I can help you in understanding and breaking the cycle of repeating patterns that may be keeping you stuck. The goal is not just to address the surface problems, but to create deeper, lasting changes in how you relate to yourself and others. As a therapist, I use both EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help clients heal from trauma, shift distressing memories, and feel more in control of their lives. These evidence-based approaches support deep emotional healing and lasting change by targeting the root causes of emotional pain, rather than just managing symptoms.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps process distressing memories by using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. This helps reframe negative emotions tied to traumatic experiences, reducing their emotional impact and allowing for healthier responses. You can go at your own pace, and it's entirely up to you whether or not to use EMDR. ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) uses similar bilateral stimulation to reprocess traumatic memories and images. ART helps clients replace negative imagery and emotional responses with more positive, peaceful alternatives, promoting faster healing and emotional relief. As with EMDR, we can work at your pace, and you can choose whether or not to include ART in our sessions.
