Getting to know Lorena Klahr

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in individuals, couples, and families. I focus on treating depression, anxiety, chronic illnesses, end-of-life matters, relationship issues, family conflict, intimacy, self-esteem, self-harming behaviors, and coping skills. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Miami. I am certified in psychoanalysis through the Florida Psychoanalytic Center, which allows me to work deeply with the interactions and forces within the person, particularly unconscious thoughts, personality structures, and childhood traumas. Additionally, I hold a Certificate in Couples Therapy from the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology. I believe in systemic treatment, meaning I focus not only on the individual but also on the external forces that may be affecting the inner self.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide services to individuals who are facing chronic illnesses as well as to the family members. I also help couples with premarital therapy or relationship issues. Families who come to me are eager to understand how their past relationships may be affecting the current problem while finding coping and communication skills.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Real healing is possible! Healing wounds from the past while understanding issues from the present in a non-judgmental, warm, and safe environment constructs a fundamental ground for long-term success. I offer in-person and telehealth therapy through a HIPPA compliant software. I am happy to provide a free phone consultation to answer any questions.
