Hi there, I'm Lori! Therapy is hard, and so is living with difficult memories. Do you feel like those old thoughts and feelings about yourself? Do old, bad memories get in the way of being the confident, strong version of yourself? My approach My goal is to make therapy less difficult, emotional, and frightening and to get the work done that will make you feel whole again. I specialize in helping people work through those difficult memories, traumas and be that support while they face them head-on. We will work to develop your confidence in your skills so that you are able to cope with those memories while we start our work, and you will learn new skills to help neutralize those memories as they come up. My focus I will use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you identify, process, and desensitize those trauma memories. In addition, along our journey, we will learn about mindfulness, self-care, cognitive distortions, and harmful thought patterns. We will work to identify challenges, gain self-confidence, and have stronger self-esteem along the way. My communication style I prioritize clear and open communication to create an environment of support, trust, but will actively listen while providing validation. I will be calm, patient, and prioritize honest, open communication. My journey to mental healthcare My journey into helping others through therapy began after a young adulthood filled with difficulty and the memories that accompanied that experience, and a caring therapist who used these skills with me. My college career and field experiences taught me you don't have to live in those feelings forever and led me on a journey of self-exploration and development of the skills that I have been taught. I believe that recovery and self-exploration will result in a stronger version of the survivor that you are because of the circumstances you survived.
