Getting to know Lori Sanders

Hi, and welcome to my bio! I have been a licensed therapist since 2014 and hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. My experience includes providing therapeutic support to diverse demographics, largely influenced by my time within the military community. Currently, I specialize in working with women ages 18 and up, focusing on the unique stresses, culture, and expectations we face. I enjoy working with adult women because we all can benefit from more self-confidence, assertiveness, and emotional strength to live the lives we want. If you choose to work with me, I find it helpful to learn about your past to better understand the woman you are today. We will explore the messages you may have been taught to believe—either directly or indirectly—and how they impact you now. Common examples include: “I must be perfect,” “I must people-please to keep the peace,” “I am responsible for others’ emotions,” “I am not good enough,” and “I am unlovable.” These unhealthy messages often bring unrealistic expectations and patterns that we may not recognize until we explore them. They can contribute to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, anger, helplessness, and other painful symptoms affecting your present functioning. I am here to help you challenge these old messages and find new, healthier ways to function—ones that foster self-confidence, happiness, and healing. Some sessions may include inner child work and awareness, depending on your past and comfort with this approach. This work can be powerful and emotional, but also deeply healing and validating. That said, our time together will always be centered around your goals and needs. I will never force an approach if you’re not ready or comfortable. We will move at your pace and use techniques that feel right for you. I am very collaborative and view our work as an interactive team effort..
