Lori Sanders, LMFT

Psychotherapist
MT
Hi, my name is Lori Sanders, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) practicing in both Montana and Idaho. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. My services include individual counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling. We all live with and/or parent with patterns and behaviors that stem from years of life experiences-some healthy, some not so healthy. These patterns can affect your present-day functioning in personal, professional, and relational areas. You may experience anxiety, feel the need to control, choose friends or partners who do not serve you, or parent as your own parents did-just to name a few examples. If you are seeking a happier, healthier, and more empowered life, I would love to work with you. My approach I begin our sessions by asking about your goals for our time together. Your answers guide the approach we take. I often explore your past, as it can provide valuable insight into why we behave the way we do and how we cope with difficult situations. If you hold longstanding negative beliefs about yourself-such as “I am not good enough,” “I am not lovable,” or “I need control for safety”-this suggests your past may be a good place to start. These beliefs can trigger anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and more. For this work, I use Internal Family Systems (IFS), Inner Child Work, EMDR, and Mindfulness. If exploring the past is not something you want or if you have limited sessions, we can focus on present-day issues that feel more specific and situational. This approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. My focus I typically provide individual therapy to help people identify their overarching behavioral, communicative, and coping patterns-both positive and negative-and understand the origins of those patterns.
