Psychotherapist
NC
My name is Lori A. Williams, and I am so excited to have you as a client in my private practice! I've lived in North Carolina most of my life. My early years were spent in New York and California, but I like calling North Carolina home. I am somewhat of a wanderlust and enjoy traveling nationally as well as internationally. When in need of a quick road trip, my favorite places are any of the beaches in North Carolina, Virginia, or Hawaii. My life's journey has allowed me to have diverse experiences such as marriage, separation, divorce, dating, parenting, as well as “empty nesting.” These experiences have helped me better understand and empathize with my clients. I would like to think that with age, life has granted me the beautiful gift of wisdom. My goal is to help my clients work through whatever stressors life is presenting them. My approach is warm and non-judgmental, realizing that at any given time, we all are doing the best we can with the tools we have been given. I am a graduate of North Carolina Central University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree and a Master's in School Counseling. I also hold a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University's Teachers College. I have offered therapy and counseling to children, teenagers, and adults of all ages. I've been able to assist them with issues related to depression, anxiety, grief, LGBTQ+, homelessness, drug abuse, school, and family issues, just to name a few. My counseling approaches are mainly eclectic. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy. I am a trained Psychedelic Assisted Therapist as well as certified in Neuropsychotherapy techniques. I combine these approaches with current best practices to meet the unique needs of my clients.
