Lorraine Villaescusa, ASW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, I'm Lorraine! I help teens and adults who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in constant overthinking find clarity, calm, and confidence again. Many of my clients are high-achieving individuals or sensitive teens who struggle to manage pressure, people-pleasing, or perfectionism while keeping everything together on the outside. Inside, they often feel like they’re running on empty. My work focuses on helping you understand anxiety, not as something “wrong” with you, but as your body’s way of trying to keep you safe. Together, we create space to regulate your emotions, manage intrusive thoughts, and reconnect with yourself in a compassionate way. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to shift anxious thinking, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to strengthen communication, and Trauma-Focused CBT to safely process painful experiences. I also teach nervous system regulation tools based on neuroscience to help you move out of survival mode and into balance. The provider is an Associate Clinical Social Worker and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Anxiety Relief Therapy Services.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Whether you’re feeling anxious, burnt out, or unsure where to start, we’ll move at a pace that feels safe for you. My style is open, validating, and nonjudgmental, I believe therapy works best when you feel seen, understood, and supported as your full self. I often remind my clients that healing isn’t about “getting rid” of anxiety, it’s about learning to respond to it differently. I’ll help you build awareness of your patterns, teach practical coping tools, and support you in creating lasting change that aligns with your values and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, we’ll explore what’s been bringing you to therapy and identify the specific areas you want to focus on, whether that’s managing anxiety, improving relationships, setting boundaries, or building confidence. From there, I’ll develop a personalized plan that fits your needs and helps you make steady progress. For teens, I often combine emotion regulation skills, mindfulness tools, and space for self-expression. For adults, sessions may include stress management techniques, nervous system regulation, and deeper insight work to help you feel more centered and connected in daily life. Over time, we’ll track your growth together, celebrating progress, working through setbacks, and continuing to strengthen the tools that help you feel grounded and empowered.

More information on payments and coverage

I currently accept AETNA and United Healthcare insurance plans, and I’m happy to help you verify your coverage before we begin. If you prefer to pay out-of-pocket, I also offer private pay options and can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement through your insurance if I’m considered out-of-network. Payment is due at the time of service, and sessions are billed through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. My goal is to make the process as smooth as possible so you can focus on your care, not the paperwork.
