Getting to know Lotoya Charles

I always knew I was different. I was extremely sensitive as a child and, as an adult, I realized I was also an empath. Unfortunately, those were not gifts that served me well growing up in Guyana or living in Brooklyn. I learned to protect myself by closing off, shutting down, and numbing out. But in doing so, I faced many challenges in my mental health, relationships, and career. For as long as I can remember, I attracted men who were emotionally unavailable. Regardless of how hard I tried, I could not break the generational cycle. I finally admitted that if I attracted emotionally unavailable men, there had to be a part of me that was unemotionally unavailable as well. I also realized I was not ready for a long-term relationship and decided to focus on my career. Although I experienced more success in this area, I still was not where I envisioned. After a series of unfulfilling jobs, I followed my dream and created my first business, Clear Connections Coaching. Shortly after, I was initiated as a healer through a spiritual awakening. I began meditating to work through my trauma, then studied healing modalities including breathwork, crystal therapy, past life regressions, quantum healing, shamanic journeying, channeling, Akashic Records, and manifestation. Alongside this journey, I earned my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College, City University of New York, which deepened my understanding of mental health and enhanced my ability to support others professionally. I now appreciate the challenges I faced, as they helped me develop practical tools to heal myself and others. I learned to use the gift of being an empath to tune into clients' issues on a deeper level, manifest my soulmate, scale my business, and create the life I always knew was possible. My purpose has shifted to helping others do the same.
