Psychotherapist
OH
Hello, I'm Louise. My journey to becoming a therapist has been anything but conventional, and I believe that diverse experiences enrich our understanding of the human condition. I spent many years as a professional actor in NYC from 1978 to 1994, which profoundly shaped my appreciation for the complexities of human emotions and relationships. Following my acting career, I became a theater professor at Antioch College, where I worked until 2008. It was during this time that I felt a calling to delve deeper into the human psyche, leading me to pursue my studies at the University of Dayton, where I graduated in 2008 as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). My training also includes the C.G. Jung Institute in Chicago's two-year Jungian-informed Psychotherapy Program and the New York Zen Center's one-year program in Foundations of Contemplative Care. These diverse educational experiences have equipped me with a rich, multifaceted approach to therapy. I have worked in a variety of mental health settings, including an ACT Team supporting individuals with severe diagnoses, a federally qualified health clinic, and in part-time private practice. My clinical interests revolve around loss, grief, life transitions, illness, relationships, and identity. I specialize in helping clients navigate these challenging areas, providing a compassionate and understanding space for healing and growth. In addition to my professional work, I volunteer at the Dayton Correctional Institution, a women's prison in Dayton, Ohio, where I teach meditation once a month. This volunteer work is a testament to my belief in the power of mindfulness and contemplative practices in fostering resilience and inner peace. Outside of my therapy practice, I continue to be involved in theater and am a dedicated Zen practitioner. These personal passions keep me grounded and continually inspire my therapeutic approach.
