Psychotherapist
IL
Hi there, I'm Lucy! Lucy Scott is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who originally trained as a Trauma Informed Art Psychotherapist in New York. She has since become a certified trainer in the Attachment Regulation Competency (ARC) framework and is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Sensory Motor Affect Regulation Therapy (SMART). My approach My therapeutic approach is holistic and guided by client-centered, humanistic principles. I believe everyone has an innate drive toward wellness, and I partner with clients in their goals using a psychodynamic, trauma-informed perspective. I can also employ art therapy interventions and techniques if the client is drawn to that approach. My focus I have traditionally worked with clients and family systems impacted by complex trauma. I work with clients struggling with post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, negative self-concept, parental concerns, and relationship challenges. My communication style My communication style is warm, with an emphasis on reducing shame and creating an environment for honest reflection. I communicate clearly, and while I bring knowledge and understanding, I prioritize the client's expertise on their own experience. My journey to mental healthcare I am originally from New Zealand. I have always been driven by genuine connection with people and exploration of the human experience. Living in New York after undergrad and creating art for my own personal growth, I became fascinated by the loop of creative expression and bearing witness as an innate healing framework. This led me to become certified in Creative Arts therapies at The New School in New York, where I learned about the healing powers in the modalities of music, dance, drama, and visual art. This cemented my holistic understanding of wellness. I went on to earn my master’s degree in Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts.
