Psychotherapist
NY
I believe every person has the capacity to overcome challenges and create meaningful change by drawing on their inner resilience. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Barry University and bring more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals and families. My work focuses on identifying and addressing core issues, including addiction, mental health concerns, personality disorders, and life stressors. I utilize trauma-focused and other evidence-based approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based practice, and solution-focused therapy, to help clients achieve their goals. I am also a Certified Parenting Instructor with extensive experience supporting parents in recovery. My professional work is grounded in a personal journey of growth and self-discovery. Like many, we begin life with hopes, plans, and aspirations, often unprepared for obstacles that require support, guidance, or a new path forward. If you are facing such challenges, you do not have to do so alone. I provide counseling for individuals and families navigating addiction, relationship difficulties, everyday stressors, and mental health concerns, including anxiety and depression. My role is to listen carefully, offer support, provide guidance, and remain transparent throughout the process. Fear can prevent us from seeking change or accepting help. Confronting my own fears has shaped my commitment to this work. Over the years, I have developed deep compassion for working with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I am continually inspired by the resilience of those I serve and would be honored to support you on your journey forward.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Building a connection with my clients is one of the most important factors in the therapeutic relationship. I take the time to get to know my clients and enjoy a little humor in my conversations. I believe in the strength of the individual and is very open and honest while also supporting the client's pace towards change. I am very open to feedback from my clients if they have concerns about how the processing is unfolding. Overall. my approach is client-centered.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session involves a review of intake documents, having an open discussion on presenting issues leading to therapy and identifying goals. I also spend an extensive amount of time getting to know each of my clients which involves exploration of family history and reviewing background information. I assist clients with identifying patterns of behaviors that might be connected with experiences from early on in life. If necessary, I utilize some assessment tools to gain further understanding of the client's presenting concerns.
