Lynda Onyshko, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, my name is Lynda Onyshko, and I'm based in Ventura County, working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I work with adolescents, pre-teens, and adults, specializing in anxiety, stress, depression, grief and loss, anger management, and relationship issues. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance therapy to help my clients make meaningful progress, start feeling better, and begin their road to recovery. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support individuals and families through various challenges. My approach to therapy varies based on each client’s unique needs. Everyone is different, but I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as both encourage changing negative thoughts and emotions while promoting acceptance—feeling emotions fully and then letting them go. I typically work with pre-teens, teens, and young adults facing life transitions and social pressures. These challenges often present as depression, anger, stress, self-harm, self-esteem issues, and anxiety. My goal is to help clients cope with and navigate these transitions, building positive skills that foster self-worth and a more optimistic outlook on life. My communication style is calm yet direct. I incorporate humor, acceptance, and accommodation into sessions. Self-acceptance, empathy, and active listening are central to my approach because I want my clients to feel safe and comfortable sharing without judgment. I chose to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help people. Having had a difficult childhood, I strive to be the supportive therapist I needed when I was younger.
